Account & Access

Often people cannot log in to their Opal Transfer account because they have tried too many times. If you do not remember the password, you need to tap ‘Forgot?’ next to the password field and follow the easy steps to reset it.

If you cannot remember the email you are currently registered with, you can contact us: we will remind you what your email address is and help you with other information.

Did this answer your question?

No worries, it happens. Tap 'Forgot password' on the login page of the website or app and follow the steps to reset your passcode. If you need help, call us — we can issue a temporary passcode valid for 60 minutes.

Did this answer your question?

Open the app or website → go to the Security area → tap 'Change password' → enter your old and new password → confirm. If you need help, please call us.

Did this answer your question?

To update your profile: open the app or website → tap Edit my profile → edit the field you need → tap Update.

A few things to note:

You can change your home address, phone number and email yourself. To change your date of birth, name or surname, please contact us.
Email: after updating, confirm the change via the link sent to your new email address.
Phone number: after changing it, you'll be able to add a new receiver 24 hours later.

You can always call us for help.

Did this answer your question?

Yes. You can sign in and use the Opal Transfer app on any device — phone, computer or tablet — as long as the app is installed. Just download it on the new device if you don't have it yet and log in as usual.

If you're switching to a new phone with a new number, you'll also need to: download the app, log in, go to Settings → Edit my profile, change your mobile number and confirm. Please allow time for the update — you'll be able to add a new receiver 24 hours after changing your number.

Note: when you sign into a new device, the session on your previous device closes automatically. This keeps your account 100% secure.

Did this answer your question?

You can still use Opal Transfer on our website. Log in, go to Edit my profile → Security area → Change password, enter the old and new password, and confirm. We recommend changing your password straight away. If you need help, please call us.

You can send as much as you wish — the transfer fee is exactly the same whether you send £50 or £50,000. For larger amounts we may ask for a few extra documents, which you can upload straight from your device. Contact us if you'd like help.

Did this answer your question?

It usually takes a few hours to reach your receiver's account. If you send in the morning, it's typically completed the same day. We'll keep you updated by app, email and/or SMS notifications — just enable these in the app or website under Our Communication. Occasionally the receiver's bank may cause a delay; if in doubt, contact our support team.

IBAN number stands for International Bank Account, which is a unique identifier for a current account held in the EU countries as well as Norway, Switzerland, or Liechtenstein, and other parts of the world (i.e. Middle East, Caribbean). If you want to make an international payment within Europe, you’ll need your recipient’s IBAN.

An IBAN length may vary, depending on the country: it consists of a combination of letters comprising the country code, two check digits, and a number that includes the bank account number, branch identifier, and potential routing information. Some examples of IBAN numbers:

    United Kingdom IBAN format: GB29 NWBK 6016 1331 8468 15
    Bulgarian IBAN format: BG80 BNBG 9661 1070 3696 78
    Romanian IBAN format: RO09 BCYP 0000 0012 3776 7892
    Latvian IBAN number: LV80 BANK 0000 2371 9900 2
    Ukrainian IBAN format: UA21 3224 1310 0002 6907 3335 6700 1
Banks around Europe use IBAN numbers to process international payments to make sure your money reaches its receiver safely and quickly.

If your receiver's details are incorrect, the money will be returned to our account. We'll then contact you to sort it out.

To avoid delays, we always recommend double-checking the receiver's name and account details before you confirm a transfer.

Did this answer your question?

Yes, it's very simple. If you want to send money to more than one receiver at the same time, just follow these easy steps:

Start a new transfer for each receiver you want to send money to, completing the necessary details.
After you finish adding your receivers, just make one total payment for all these started transfers. You will need to pay by bank transfer to the Opal Transfer account.
We will allocate the total amount to all your receivers, as you defined in each transfer.

Alternatively, you can call us and list all the receivers and their account numbers, to make it easier for you.

Payments & Fees

Every transfer is fully transparent. Before you send, the money transfer section shows the fixed fee (the same regardless of amount), the exchange rate, and the total to pay.

Did this answer your question?

Both card and bank transfer payment methods offer exactly the same fast money delivery. It’s entirely up to you whether you choose to pay by debit card or bank transfer when transferring money through Opal Transfer website or mobile app.

If you choose to pay by bank transfer, you will need to choose a New speedy payment by Bank Transfer. You will transfer the money from your current account into Opal Transfer bank account.

just choose to pay by Superfast Bank Transfer
select your bank from our list
confirm the payment in your mobile bank application, and you're done!
Make sure that the amount you transfer into our account is identical with the total amount mentioned on your transfer page.

Alternatively, if you wish to send money via online banking manually you will need to go to your bank’s online banking webpage. You will transfer the money from your current account into Opal Transfer bank account. Make sure that the amount you transfer into our account is identical with the total amount mentioned on your transfer page and you enter the Opal Transfer bank account details correctly.

If you choose to pay by debit card you will need to fill in your card details on the card payment pop-up page.

Did this answer your question?

You can pay for an online money transfer with Opal Transfer either by using a debit card or by bank transfer. Payments by credit cards are not supported by Opal Transfer at the moment.

Did this answer your question?

The most common reasons are: using a non-debit card (only debit cards are accepted); a billing address that doesn't match the one registered with your card issuer; online payments not activated on your card; or a 3D Secure failure. Check these and try again.

Did this answer your question?

You can check the status of any transfer anytime in your Transfers history, on the app or website.
If your transfer shows Not Paid, here's what to do:

If you haven't paid yet, simply choose your payment method — bank transfer or debit card — and pay the amount shown.
If you've already paid but the status still shows Not Paid/Awaiting payment, please send us your proof of payment through the app, the website, or by email at info@opaltransfer.com, and we'll update it for you.

Once your payment reaches our account, your transfer continues as normal — money typically reaches your receiver the same or next business day, depending on the cut-off time.
You can always contact us if you'd like help clarifying a payment status.

We can provide you with a statement for your money transfers with Opal Transfer:

Documents & Verification

Opal Transfer is an authorised UK Payment Institution and an Electronic Money Institution in the EU. This means anti-money-laundering law applies to our activity — specifically the UK's Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and the Republic of Lithuania's Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

Because we don't meet our customers in person, the law requires us to verify your identity and, in some cases, ask for extra documents or information. This protects both you and your money, and helps us keep all transfers safe and legal.

You can find any documents we may need in the Document Upload section of the app or website. If you'd like help, please contact us.

You can prove your identity with one of these documents, showing your full name clearly: passport*, UK or EU biometric residence permit, EU ID card, or full UK/EU driving licence (UK only).

To send it: go to Document Upload in the app or website → select the document type → take a photo of the original (or upload a saved one) → keep it within the guiding frame → take a selfie → tap send. Save as JPG, PDF or PNG, max 20MB.

Tips: use a well-lit room, keep every detail sharp, turn flash off to avoid glare, photograph the original (not a photo of a photo), make sure your selfie shows only you, and check your profile details match your document.

You can also email info@opaltransfer.com or use Business WhatsApp +44 20 7022 0995.

Must be no older than three months and a copy of an original posted document.

Proof of income / source of funds — one of: bank statement showing regular income (salary, dividends, stipend, rent); bank statement showing a one-time large deposit (property sale, insurance, loan, inheritance); or a 3-month savings statement. With a bank statement, we recommend also sending original proof (payslip, P60/P45, invoice, tax return, sales contract, solicitor's letter).

Proof of payment — a document (e.g. bank statement) clearly showing your full name, your account details, and your payment to Opal Transfer.

Transfer Problems

Most transfers reach the receiver within a few hours, but several things can cause a delay or failure:

Receiver's bank is still processing. UK transfers usually take a few hours but can take up to 3 working days with slower banks. Always check your receiver's account is compatible with our service.
Incorrect receiver details. Double-check everything you entered in the receiver fields.
Extra documents needed. Check your Transfers history and upload anything we've requested.
Payment not completed. If you chose bank transfer, make sure you actually sent the money to the Opal Transfer account.
The receiver's bank rejected it. Contact the bank directly for details.
Restricted destination. As a regulated institution (UK financial authority and Bank of Lithuania), we can't process transfers to certain countries, banks or high-risk merchants (e.g. unregulated gambling, crypto, pyramid schemes).

Transfers can stay pending for up to about 3 days depending on how quickly the required information reaches us. If you're unsure, contact our support team and we'll help.

Did this answer your question?

Whether you can cancel a transfer depends on its status:

Pending or "Not Paid" transfers: you can cancel these from your account before they're processed. (Any unpaid transfer is automatically cancelled after 48 hours.)

Completed transfers: once a payment has been executed, it usually can't be cancelled. You can still contact our support team to check whether a recall request is possible.

Did this answer your question?

A payment is confirmed when:

- you authorise the transaction with your card, bank transfer, or another method, and
- your bank or payment processor approves it.

A payment is executed when:

- the funds have been deducted from your account and sent to the receiver, and
- the receiver's bank acknowledges the transfer.
